Dr Visit

So, I went to the eye doctor last night, not because I couldn't see, but because I'm paying for the insurance, and it seemed like a good thing to do. The good news is that I still pass the DMV test without corrective lens, but I think you only need to read the 2nd line to be able to do that. Anyway, I am slightly near-sighted, so he gave me a prescription for that (2 stops or something like that), though I don't REALLY need them. I did get a pair of sunglasses out of the deal though, which is a plus, because I have a big large head, and finding sunglasses that fit is nearly impossible. Thanks, genetics. So, I'll have glasses for distance viewing/night driving, but I need to take them off to read... go figure. Since most of my day is spent reading though, I'm not sure when I'll get to wear them. Having the sunglasses will help though. Seeing how the glasses were only $25, and the exam was $10, I couldn't really pass it up. The doctor was really nice, and explained everything that he was doing (though I asked). He put the drops to dilate my eyes in though, which was mostly uncomfortable, but I managed. Lucky for me, we went to the Distillery for dinner last night, which was dark. The doctor also said I don't have Glaucoma or cataracts, which is a good thing. I think I pick them up next week. There might even be pictures forthcoming.

Just got back from my first 20 mile bicycle ride. I went slower than I normally do (14.2mph vs 16.5), but I feel great. My little program tells me I burned 900 calories too. Sweet!
