Bike - F4C

Boys and their toys

So, I was at the bike shop again on Sunday and even though I told myself I'd get a new bike after getting 2000 miles in this season, I picked it up anyway.  300 miles is close to 2000, isn't it?  I'm actually right on target for reaching my goal of 2000 miles by the end of September.  Additionally, I am planning on doing 100 mile rides in August and September.  If I add those on, I only have 1500 more miles to go... or something like that.  Anyway, it's fast, although very red.  I don't know how I feel about the red, but the dealer threw in a matching jersey, which makes it far less out of place, granted, I don't know if my blue jersey will work anymore :)

So, what I got was, a Felt F4C.  It's a carbon-fiber frame with Ultegra & Dura-Ace Component.  The wheels aren't actually that hot, but those are pretty easy to upgrade if I don't like them in another year.  The gearing is quite a bit different than my old bike, so I need to get used to that, but the thing climbs like an antelope.  Now I just need to find someone to buy the old one.

2 posts in one day... oddness (this one about running)

After weeks of telling myself I'd do it, I finally did it. That's right, I was up at 6am this morning to go for a run. My training schedule called for a 2 mile run, though I ended up doing slightly more than that, because I forgot to start the GPS. In any event, I ran 9:28 minute miles. I'm not setting any records here, but for me to do multiple miles in under 10 minute miles is a good thing.

I must also say that doing for a jog in the morning is very nice. The traffic was light, the cool weather was... well, cool.

My goal is to go every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning. Saturday could be tricky, but we'll see. Maybe Sunday? Going in the morning will allow me to go for a bike ride in the evening though, which is a plus, as they take longer than running (in general).

I don't know why, but I generally feel more motivated to run/bike this year. Maybe it's that I am trying to impress Lisa. In any event, I'm happy about it. I am actually enjoying myself.

First goal:
