Right... about that PVR

Well, I read a couple things on some forums yesterday about how to improve image quality on the PVR box, including using overlays instead of Direct-3D drawing routines. I did that, and low-and-behold, the picture looked remarkably better. This was all well and good, except that the bottom of the picture was being cut off, and the ATI card doesn't allow me to adjust the screen position when it's in overscan mode. I tried to take it out of overscan mode, and resize it, but this had the problem of the picture from the source not being large enough to fill the TV. It looked really good though. So, I just got frustrated, angry, and generally miserable. Travis and I came back from picking up a chicken (for dinner) and tried running the TV in different resolutions. After a bunch of fiddling, it looks like we found a resolution that actually works! I'd still prefer to use the Direct-3D display stuff, in order to get transparencies and other cool visual effects, but those are far less important than a good NTSC picture (if good and NTSC can be used in the same sentence).
