Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: RG&E

RG&E (Rochester Gas and Electric), recently sold the Ginna Nuclear Power plant. As part of the agreement with the Public Utility Commission, the RG&E customers are getting money from this sale. Woo hoo! I got my check on Monday, for $99. Much more than I expected. I also found out that we will be getting 3 more checks, one every year, at a rate roughly half the previous year's rate. Not too shabby. I will be getting roughly $170 from RG&E for being a customer.

Herein lies the problem. The checks that they issued are bouncing! Good job, RG&E. Well, the ones that people got are bouncing. A lot of people have yet to receive them.

Another thing that bothered me was the news said the average refund was about $40. I got $100 back. I didn't think I used that much electricity. I talked to my neighbors, who were out of town for 4 months over the winter, and were using almost no electricity then. Their refund? $60... still more than the average. Go figure.
