I did it

Back when I got my shiny new bike, one of my goals was to ride down to Rush (the town south of me) and back up. It isn't the 100mi ride that I'm currently planning on tackling, but it was a goal non-the-less. I had no idea how far it was, but it wasn't short. Well, last night, Travis and I decided to go for a ride, because the weather was nice, and he suggested riding down to Rush. I said, sure. Well, I got there and back, and actually took a little detour on the way back to make the trip a little further. It turns out that the trip is 12.5 miles. Not bad. Travis and I averaged 16.5mph, which is about 1mph more than normal. It may not seem like a lot, but it is 7% faster than normal, and is therefore a good workout. There are also some serious hills when going to Rush. It seemed like they were all uphill too. Anyway, Travis got a flat about a mile from home. Lucky for him, I carry a spare tube, and a CO2 pump with me. It worked pretty well, though a little longer than I had hoped for (mostly to get the tire on and off). It seems to be raining now, which means no ride tonight. I've got other things to do anyway, my seat is still squeaking, though not as much.
