A short story.

I was bored, so I wrote a very short story. It's not even really a story, since there is no plot.

I walked through the front door into the dimly lit living room and threw my car keys onto the table. The setting sun could be seen through the open patio door. A giant river of orange flowed from the glowing orange ball on the horizon to the beach 50 yards in front of me. It was days like this that I appreciated my house on the beach. I went into the kitchen and got some iced tea from the nearly empty ice box. I strolled out onto the patio and sat in a lawn chair and watched the sun sink into the water. Sailboats were coming into the marina on the final breezes that were caused by the heating of the land in the hours before. My gaze shifted from the sailboats scooting across the water to the couple walking along the beach. They had their pants rolled up to avoid getting them wet as they walked through the breaking waves. They each had their shoes tied together and swung over their shoulders. I wondered if these people appreciated the beauty of the sunset the way I did. I watched them walking into the town to my left and for the first time I noticed how the sun scattered off the ocean giving the town and eerie orange glow. It had rained earlier in the day and a few clouds remained in the sky, reflecting the brilliant orange rays of the sun. The clouds were light and wispy at this time and only made the scene that much more picture perfect.
