MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Two experienced skydivers with nearly 3,000 jumps between them are dead after a mid-air collision.
New Jersey officials say the pair collided Monday about 150 feet from the ground, and their parachutes got tangled up.
A police detective says it's similar to an auto accident from "pulling out into traffic and not looking."
The accident killed a 23-year-old woman (Sara Loche) and a 33-year-old man (Ron Samac). The woman had been an instructor at Freefall Adventures.
Sara was the instructor who taught my friends dad (Reece) how to sky dive. I spent 15 minutes talking with her on Sunday as she gave Reece pointers and was telling him what he did wrong, and generally encouraging him. She was very nice, and while I only spent 15 minutes with her, she'll be missed.
